“That One Glass That Gets You Energy”

Some day, I feel like my battery runs out before afternoon. You know that feeling—when you’ve barely started the day, and already your body says, “Bas, ab break chahiye.” Last week, after rushing through a Monday morning (missed breakfast, caught the metro just in time, and then sat in back-to-back meetings), I honestly felt like I’d collapse.

My colleague must’ve noticed because he just slid a glass towards me—cold water with glucose powder. “Drink this,” he said. That first sip… oh man, it felt like my whole system rebooted. Instant energy boost, no drama.

It’s funny how small things carry memories. For me, glucose is tied to childhood summers. Those afternoons when power cuts were regular and fans barely worked, my mom would hand me a steel glass filled with glucose water. No fancy flavours, just plain sweet energy. Back then, I thought it was just a summer drink. Now, as an adult, I realise it was literally first aid for tiredness.

Even now, I see glucose being a part of so many moments. My younger brother plays football with his friends, and I often tease them about carrying energy drinks like pros. But he always says, “Glucose for athletes is a must, We can’t run on empty stomachs.

And he’s right. When I watch him and his gang, drenched in sweat but still running around, those bottles of glucose water look less like drinks and more like their survival kit.

For people like us, who are not exactly running marathons but living our regular fast-paced life, glucose for energy works just the same. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve come home after a long grocery run or a never-ending wedding shopping trip with my cousins, only to feel my body giving up. One glass, and suddenly I can laugh again, talk again, move again. It’s so simple, so underrated.

I once carried a small pouch of dextrose powder during a train journey to my nani’s place. You know trains—hot, crowded, and full of strangers who slowly become co-passengers-turned-friends. One aunty next to me was feeling faint, so I mixed her a drink. Within minutes, she was smiling,

telling me stories of her grandkids. That’s the thing—glucose isn’t just about energy. Sometimes it feels like warmth, like care.

We all run behind complicated things—expensive supplements, imported drinks—but at the end of the day, our bodies still love the simple stuff. The things our elders always knew.

Next time you feel drained, whether at office, in the middle of shopping chaos, or just stuck in the heat, don’t ignore that tired signal. Maybe you all you need is a chilled glass of glucose water.

Because honestly, life is tough enough. Why not keep at least one easy fix Aap Ka Bazar ?

  1. It’s so true that energy isn’t just about big meals or supplements—it’s about those little moments that recharge you. Glucose water has a way of doing that instantly, like an old friend coming to the rescue.
