You know those mornings when the alarm feels like an enemy?
I drag myself out of bed, brush in a half-sleep, and the only thing that really wakes me up is maa’s fresh juices. Sometimes orange, sometimes watermelon, sometimes just plain nimbu with honey. It is like a sunshine in the glass.
Growing up, juice wasn’t just a drink in our house—it was like a mood setter. Papa still has his favourite vegetable juices. He’ll sit with his big glass of beetroot-carrot mix, and keep telling me, “Beta, this is better than any vitamin tablet.” And honestly, he’s right. It tastes earthy, feels filling, and somehow gives that kick of health even if the day is full of junk food later.

But life has changed. Between classes, office work, commuting, and just managing one hundred small things, who really has the time to cut fruits daily? On most weekdays, I just don’t. That’s when I started to buy juices online. At first, I thought—will it even feel the same? But some of these brands surprised me. Especially the organic juices. They’re not too sweet, not artificial, just clean. After a long metro ride, opening a chilled bottle of organic juice honestly feels like self-care.

I’ll share a small memory—last year, during summer, I was fasting. The days were long, and by the time of iftar, I was completely drained. My cousin had ordered a bunch of juices online, and she pulled out one bottle of cold pressed organic orange juice. That first sip? Pure bliss. We didn’t even talk for a minute, just sat there enjoying the silence and the taste. That’s the kind of comfort juices bring.

Of course, some flavours are an acquired taste. Vegetable juices, for example. Bitter gourd used to be my nightmare. Maa would force it on me with a smile, saying, “Health ke liye hai.” Now, I will not say I love it, However I don’t hate it either. With ginger and lemon, it actually feels refreshing, like a detox after too much pizza. Funny how tastes grow with you, na?
What I love most is how juice fits into every stage of life. College breaks with friends and sugarcane juice in tall glasses. Office breaks with tetra packs when you don’t want another cup of chai. Family shopping trips ending with a round of mosambi juice at the stall outside. And now, scrolling on my phone late at night, quickly adding organic juices to cart because I know tomorrow will be hectic.
At the end of the day, it is not just about the drink. Fresh juices, vegetable mixes, or That’s why I’ll always keep a space in my fridge for them.
