Jasmine Green Tea

From Cutting Chai to Green Tea!

You know, I never thought I’d become a green tea person. For years I was that typical “chai hi life hai” kind of person. Cutting chai at the tapri, long talks with cousins during monsoon,

office breaks with hot adrak wali chai—those moments are still special. But somewhere along the way, maybe during lockdown or maybe when my stomach finally got tired of my unlimited samosa–
chai combos, I started exploring green tea. And surprisingly, I actually began to like

Now, when I say green tea, I don’t mean those random tea bags you find lying in the office pantry. I’m talking about proper loose leaf green tea. The fragrance itself feels different—fresh, like you’ve opened a window to a garden. My friend once gifted me a pack, and I remember brewing it without much knowledge. That first sip wasn’t love at first sight (or sip), honestly. But after a few days, it grew on me. And now, whenever I want a break from heavy chai, I just make myself a cup and sit quietly with it.

Jasmine Green Tea

One of my recent discoveries is jasmine green tea. Have you ever tried it? It is green tea blend with jasmine blossom, and the aroma is just… calming. There are evenings when I am tired after work, my head blown off with screens and deadlines. That is when I just make jasmine green tea, sit on the balcony, and it feels like I pressed pause on life for a bit. My mother laugh at me, keep saying,Ye sab angrezi chai tumhe suit karti hai?But then she secretly enjoys it too, especially after a heavy dinner.

I won’t call myself a health freak, but there’s something nice about knowing you’re sipping something that’s actually good for you. My father is diabetic, and though he still loves his regular chai, sometimes he joins me for a cup of loose leaf green tea. We sit together, not talking too much, just sipping slowly. Strange how such small things become memories. So yeah,

I still love my cutting chai, I still won’t say no to a steaming kulhad on a winter evening. But green tea has found its space in my life. Not as a replacement, but as a quiet companion. If you’ve only tried the usual tea bags, give loose leaf green tea or even jasmine green tea a chance—you might surprise yourself. And if you’re feeling adventurous, whisk up a matcha. Who knows, it might just become your new comfort.

Advantages of Green Tea

I completely understand. Chai is, without a doubt, proven to be one of the best comforting drinks. While I sit at the cutting chai stall, I, too, manage to sneak in a cup of green tea. Let’s be real, it’s far more helpful than it is hyped up, and it became a part of the culture without many people batting an eyelash.

Advantages of Green Tea
  • Soothing for the Stomach

I know all of you devour the last plate of biryani at weddings. But guess who is stuck suffering afterwards? That’s right. A cup of green tea comes to the rescue. After dinner, a warm cup of this tea feels like a warm, gentle hug on the stomach. One of my friend’s aunts is a big believer in loose leaf: she claims it’s the secret to her light feeling, even after devouring loads of 12-spice sabzi.

  • A Tiny Sidekick for Weight Puzzles

We love our samosas and cheesy parathas, let’s not kid ourselves. Green tea doesn’t ban them. They not only appreciate but gently advocate for readily available substitutions. Stash a tiny cup with your evening stroll and suddenly those bajra and cardboard snacks don’t feel so stubborn. It is not a magic six-pack setup. But my cousin who transitioned from chai to desi kadak green tea still swears by green tea’s little boost at the end of the day.

  • Smooth energy, zero crash

You know those frothy coffees that make your hands shake? Matcha is frothy coffee’s nicer, more lucid cousin. It provides a gentle form of energy, not the crazy roller-coaster type. A cup of coffee is a must if I have mountains of Zoom calls waiting for me. I can easily manage all the calls without my eyelids playing hide-and-seek.

  • Antioxidant power-up

Consider the day-long invisible pollution and the bag of chips my body has to deal with. I reach for green tea – It’s full of antioxidants that act like tiny personal trainers for my cells. It is a daily, invisible enhancement for my body.

I take my tea and spend some time on the balcony, where I pretend I am on a vacation.

  • A Firm Tea Recommendation

The more I read, the more I see people sipping on green tea for years end up with a happy heart. My dad’s doctor even instructed him to replace one chai with a cup of good-quality loose leaf green. Small exchange, great results.
